News Notes: Kanye Drops Track & More
50 Cent's Penis Bets on Super Bowl: If you've seen Fiddy's Biddies, you know the ladies love 50 Cent (on Twitter, at least). One biddy with the self-esteem-boosting handle @mybestassets has bet—in jest, we hope—that if the Patriots lose the Super Bowl, she'll "post [her] boobs and face on here." If the Giants lose, prepare to see 50's Magic Stick. Let's pray for humanity this is not real. [Gawker]
Ke$ha is Not Happy: Given Ke$ha's press-shy, secretive lifestyle, it totally makes sense she'd be angry about a new documentary about her life. [AOL]
Simon Cowell Launches DJ Talent Show: Man, it sucks trying to find a DJ for a party and only having 42,384 options to choose from. Simon Cowell hopes to remedy that with the launch of a new DJ talent show similar to "The X Factor" and "American Idol." No title has been announced, but Captain Surly has partnered with Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith to oversee the show. "DJs are the new rock stars," said Cowell, presumably thinking it was 1998. [Allhiphop]
Miles Davis Gets a Stamp: Jazz legend and all-around cool cat Miles Davis will be honored with his own stamp from the U.S. Postal Service as part of an upcoming collection of musically themed stamps. In unrelated news, Kanye West was recently spotted yelling at the Postmaster General, "What you mean you gotta be dead to get one of these things?!" [Rolling Stone]
G.O.O.D. Music's First Single Set For Release: Staying on Kanye, the rapper's G.O.O.D. music label has allegedly chosen "Lamborghini, Murci" as the first single from the label's upcoming compilation album. The track will feature West, Big Sean and Pusha T and will presumably feature products you've never heard of, but can't afford. [Allhiphop via Fake Shore Drive]
Odd Future Hit the Road Again: Sensing that it's been a few months since parents and music journalists had something to fret over, L.A. hip-hop collective Odd Future refill the void with a new tour starting March 9th in Tempe, AZ. Each show will feature a screening of the group's Adult Swim show "Loiter Squad" and a special pop-up shop. Hey, it's like Missoni for Target but with violent, misogynistic lyrics! [Pitchfork]
M.I.A. Debuting New Single: M.I.A. fans will be happy next week, as the singer will debut her new single "Bad Girls" next Monday on UK DJ Zane Lowe's BBC show. We haven't heard it yet, but we'll just assume there's gunshots in it. [NME]
Disney Removes Joy Division T-Shirt: Well, that was quick. Apparently not realizing that appropriating an iconic album cover into Mickey Mouse may draw some attention, Disney has pulled its Joy Division t-shirts days after offering it for sale. Good luck on eBay, fans! [Billboard]
Etta James Sales Spike: No surprise here. Sales of Etta James' album jumped 378% after the singer's death last week. [Billboard]
