Kiiara's rising hit "Gold"—which jumps to No. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week—is creeping onto radio with one of the freshest sounds Top 40 has heard in a minute. The latest Fuse First artist tells us she mostly listens to rap these days and it's helped mold her as the promising artist she is today:
"It always keeps my attention because it's a story, it's like one big movie. Growing up, I could always listen to whatever I wanted. There no censor like, 'Oh, you can't listen to that' so I was listening to Eminem, Yelawolf, Linkin Park. Like, I would listen to Linkin Park when I was five or something? It was just, 'Oh, this is cool!'"
The Illinois singer adds that she "instantly captivated" with hip-hop thanks to stumbling upon an Eminem CD in her living room.
