Sky Ferreira piqued the interest of indie and K-pop music fans last month when she popped up on "Black," a collaboration with G-Dragon, the leader of boy band wonders BIGBANG. Tonight on Fuse News, the indie darling details the East-meets-West recording session with John Norris.
"They got us in the studio and were like, 'We want to play you this song that's called 'Black.' I don't really know that much about the culture there, so I didn't want to go and change the lyrics," she says of laying down her melancholy vocals for the K-pop confection.
While Fuse saw millions of fans vote him 2013's Fan Favorite Best New Artist, Ferreira admits she didn't know of the Korean superstar's global fanbase until a photo of them got 140,000 likes on Instagram. "They Instagram a photo of us and he has like four million followers!" she says of G-Dragon's account [Note: He actually has 1.6 million followers, but obviously, that's still an incredibly high number]. "He's like Justin Timberlake of Asia and I didn't know that!"
