James Van Der Beek Is Diplo in Weird Mad Decent Block Party Ad: Watch

James Van Der Beek is stepping away from his Dawson Leery typecasting to test out a new character. And his choice is none other than...Diplo? The actor portrays the mega-producer in an ad for Mad Decent Block Party called "Day in the Life of Diplo."

The three-minute long video is strangely entertaining, with Van Der Beek hilariously owning slang like "fam," squad" and "it's lit!" Of course, there are plenty of air horns, twerking girls, harpists and ghost-tweeters thrown in the ad. But the best part comes towards the end, where the actor fights off ninjas before rising off on a white horse.
