Britney & Iggy Aim for a "Fancy"-Like Summer Smash With "Pretty Girls"
UPDATE (5/4): If history repeats itself, Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea's new single "Pretty Girls" may be the smash of the summer.
The divas' collab is reminiscent of 2014's song of the summer, Iggy's seven-week No. 1 "Fancy," with the same stabby synths and finger snaps on the production (courtesy of "Fancy" and "Beg for It" producers the Invisible Men) and sassy, Charli XCX-esque chants that made it so damn addictive. The man-bashing lyrics might make it a little less appealing for the male demographic to blast out of their cars, though.
If "Pretty Girls" becomes a hit, it would be a much-needed career stimulus for both ladies. "Pretty Girls" is dripping with more personality than anything from Brit's 2013 album Britney Jean, her first record to fail to produce a Top 10 single. Plus, Iggy's music has been overshadowed by controversy and bad press lately as her latest single "Trouble" featuring Jennifer Hudson, stalled on the charts at No. 67. If "Pretty Girls" takes off, it could reignite the fire for both singers who are both much in need of boost. But is a "Fancy" part two the way to go about it?
