Hear Ariana Grande & Iggy Azalea's Sexy, Sax-Saturated "Problem"
UPDATE (5/30): Check out the official video for Ariana and Iggy's "Problem" now!
UPDATE: The studio version of Ariana Grande and Iggy Azelea's saxophone-saturated (soon-to-be smash?) "Problem" is here! The Mariah Carey disciple does a creative 180 degree turn, showing us some serious attitude that's been missing from her earlier efforts. Listen above. We're loving it.
"Problem" will be on her upcoming second album, a fall release that surprisingly finds Ariana going EDM for a single with super-producer Zedd. Read about that here.
As for "Problem," Grande initially debuted the single live during this weekend's Radio Disney Music Awards. Donning Mickey Mouse ears, the starlet belted her way through the throwback dance track. Watch below.
With a jazzy saxophone opening the track, the peppy verses mix brassy horns and heavy kickdrums as Ariana sings about being torn over a relationship, "Tell me, tell me baby / Why did you leave me? / 'Cause even though I shouldn't want it / I gotta have it / I want you." But the track takes a sonic 180 when the beat drops and a male voice repetitively whispers, "One less problem without ya / I got one less problem without ya" over minimal drum-and-bass laced with a saxophone solo—reminiscent to the sax breakdown in Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty."
"Fancy" rapper Iggy Azalea offers a harsher take on the situation come her turn. She spits, "I'm thinkin' I love the thought of you / More than I love your presence / And the best thing now / Is probably for you to exit" on her incredible section.
