Mariah Carey Teases "You're Mine (Eternal)" Single, Sets New Album Release Date
UPDATE (2/11): Listen to both "You're Mine (Eternal)" and the remix featuring Trey Songz right here!
Christmas may be a distant memory, but Mariah Carey played Santa to her fans on Monday with two exciting announcements.
Via a two-minute video reminding the world of everything the singer has accomplished—including a scan of every Billboard Hot 100 chart for each of her 18 No. 1s—Carey revealed her new single, "You're Mine (Eternal)," will drop February 12. Mimi also unveiled a Sweethearts-themed single cover for the new track, meaning we'll look forward to adding this to our Valentine's Day makeout playlist .
A low-quality recording of "You're Mine (Eternal)" surfaced, but you can still hear Mariah's strong vocals, lovey-dovey lyrics and a dreamy R&B production. Look out for a drawn-out whistle at the song's end a la 2005's "We Belong Together," but even more impressive.
The R&B-pop diva also announced a firm release date for her 11th studio album, The Art of Letting Go. Almost ten months after its initial announced date, the album will drop May 6.
So far the LP has spawned three singles of varying chart success: "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" featured Rick Ross and Meek Mill handling the verses but failed to chart on the Hot 100; Miguel duet "#Beautiful" hit No. 15 and was Mariah's best-charting single since 2009; "The Art of Letting Go" had a "genius" Facebook reveal, but failed to chart as well.
Here's to hoping that releasing a ballad on Valentine's Day gets the hype for this album high... we've been anticipating it since last year!
