Green Day's 'Cuatro' Rock Doc Gets Release Date
Almost a year after its debut at ESPN's Winter X Games, Green Day's ¡Cuatro! documentary finally gets an official release next week.
The behind-the-scenes rock doc—which will be out on DVD and Amazon/iTunes on 9/24—follows the punk trio throughout 2012 as they conceived and recorded ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tre!, and then released all three within the same year.
Even for longtime Green Day listeners who weren't thrilled with the trilogy—sales for each album were uncharacteristically dismal—it should be worth a look for the stalwart stan, as ¡Cuatro! covers the period that found Billie Joe Armstrong struggling with addiction prior to his rehab stint. Although it doesn't explicitly address his abuse problems, watching the grueling process of recording three albums at once might lend some insight into why he temporarily went off the rails.
