J. Cole dropped his TLC-assisted Born Sinner track "Crooked Smile" this morning, so we dug up extra footage from our recent interview with Roc Nation rapper, who opens up about the track and its personal inspiration.
Cole, who says he felt like he "was back in high school" after gaining popularity, explains that "Crooked Smile" is an anthem of empowerment--and not just for himself.
"I didn't have the Colgate, I didn't have braces and [haters] definitely remind you," he says. "So [the song] is me taking ownership. Don't get caught up in the little things--your weight or your nose or your eyebrows or your smile or your hair. Embrace your own flaws."
