Watch Insane Clown Posse Review Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" Video
In this debut episode of ICP Theater—which is basically Mystery Science Theater 3000 meets Beavis and Butt-head meets... clowns—the one and only Insane Clown Posse sit down and watch Carly Rae Jepsen's megahit "Call Me Maybe" for the very first time.
At this point, most of us are not only super-familiar with CRJ's video, but we even have a heavily-considered list of our favorite covers. (Our personal list consisting of Chatroullette, President Obama, Jimmy Fallon, Cookie Monster, a dog and a live sing-along with Justin Bieber. In that order.) So it's refreshing to watch two people enjoying Carly Rae's video—and actually not expecting the surprise ending. As Violent J notes of the twist: "That's good writing, man."
Admittedly, the rappers do get some facts about the video a bit wrong. For example, they seem to think CRJ is 16 years old. And named Carly Simon. Plus Shaggy 2 Dope feels the video isn't terribly true to life: "If this were real life, they'd be behind the house smoking bath salts and she'd be topping him off." Interesting theory, but... no. We don't think that's what Carly Rae meant when she was talking about a "Good Time"... at least, that isn't what she told us when we caught up with her on the set of that video.
While ICP was around, we also grilled them on a few other topics, like their plans to sue the FBI and their now legendary Gathering of the Juggalos. And before we let them stand up to leave, we asked them to watch just two more things: Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" video, and their own most recent music vid, "Chris Benoit," from their new album The Mighty Death Pop! They deem the latter to be a "magical work of art." You should probably watch to see if you agree.
